BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht warmly invites you to join FORMER WEST: Documents, Constellations, Prospects, both in person and virtually, from 18 to 24 March at Haus der Kulturen der Welt and at the project’s Digital Platform on www.formerwest.org. During a seven-day long gathering, artworks, talks, dialogues, rehearsals, performances, workshops, and mutual learning in various constellations of documents and prospects offer a multitude of encounters for negotiating the way of the world from 1989 to today, and for thinking beyond.

As a platform collapsing the exhibitionary, the performative, and the discursive, FORMERWEST: Documents, Constellations, Prospects is organized into five currents. Each day, students are involved in Learning Place, brought together through collaboration with international cultural institutes, universities, and art academies. This educational performance forms an understructure for public debates on Art ProductionInfrastructure, andInsurgent Cosmopolitanism. In addition, Dissident Knowledges contributions propose dynamic interventions into the ongoing program with artworks, performances, and statements. The project concludes with a Berlin Public Editorial Meeting inaugurating a two-year trajectory of such meetings leading to the realization of the FORMER WESTpublication, as well as a series of impromptu Prospective Statements.
